Prompt Structure

Reusable templates and sectioning patterns so prompts stay readable, editable, and team-friendly.

Why structure helps

Structured prompts are easier to diff in Git, review in Slack, and A/B test. They also reduce accidental contradictions (“minimal” next to “maximalist clutter”).

Template A — Commercial product

[PRODUCT] on [SURFACE] in [ENVIRONMENT].
Camera: [lens personality], [composition].
Light: [direction], [quality], [color].
Materials: [textures].
Finish: [grade], [grain], [sharpness words].
Must avoid: [list].

Template B — Portrait

[SUBJECT] with [WARDROBE] and [EXPRESSION].
Lens: [focal length feel], [depth of field].
Light: [key/fill/rim], [modifier: softbox/parabolic].
Background: [separation description].
Color: [palette], [contrast level].

Template C — Illustration

[STYLE ANCHOR], [MEDIUM], [LINE QUALITY], [COLOR APPROACH].
Subject: [characters/props].
Scene: [setting], [props], [foreground/background].
Finish: [texture of paper/canvas if any].

Section separators

Use line breaks or short labels (Camera:, Light:). Some teams prefer bullet lists inside the prompt box—both work if you stay consistent.

Gemini / Nano Banana template patterns (official doc)

The Gemini image generation documentation publishes reusable templates + example prompts for common goals. You can paste the English examples directly into this app’s prompt box (Nano Banana Pro 2 is built for natural language). Patterns include:

PhotorealA photorealistic [shot type] of [subject] in [environment], lit by [light], [camera/lens], [mood], [aspect note].
Sticker / iconA [style] sticker of [subject], [line/shading], [palette]. Background must be white. (Note: Gemini docs state transparent PNG is not supported.)
Text in imageCreate a [type] for [brand] with the text “[exact string]” in a [font style], [layout], [colors].
Product / commercialHigh-resolution studio-lit product photo of [product] on [surface], [lighting setup], [camera angle], sharp focus on [detail].

Pair with parameters

In this product, use Aspect ratio, Quality / resolution, and the editor’s Style / Color / Lighting / Composition presets instead of repeating those ideas in prose. MidJourney-style stylize / chaos sliders are not exposed here — see Stylize and Chaos and variety for how we map those ideas to Nano Banana Pro 2.
